6. Christ brings disciples up the mountain to receive his teaching.
Jesus himself fulfills the New Law perfectly and empowers the Church to live it faithfully through the Holy Spirit.
The Beatitudes are descriptive of Christ’s interior life. To live the Beatitudes is to “put on” the heart of Christ.

7. INSTRUCTIONS: Answer the following for each of Jesus’ Beatitudes:
A) What is Jesus’ message?
B) 2-3 character traits/virtues that apply to a person who lives out each Beatitude.

8. 1. Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven
Message: God blesses those who realize their need for him.
Character Traits/Virtues:

9. 2. Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted
Message: God blesses those who suffer and endure hardships. Mourning
means we share of ourselves in others needs, both physically and emotionally.

Message: God blesses those who are gentle and humble.

Message: God blesses those who consistently work towards doing the right thing in thought and action.
