Is Africa Cursed? On the Continent, there is a sense of hopelessness and despair seldom seen anywhere else in the world, except in some parts of the post- Soviet Union. Not on a micro level. For there one find laughter, dancing, colors, textures, sounds, music that are rich and bountiful The hopelessness is in the mindset or psyche of the people We are poor and there is nothing we can do Things have always been this way and they will never change The outside world has, too often, come with the same pessimism. Africa is the “dark continent.” It is like a black hole, you poor money in and it disappears. It is hopeless. Many people think that Africa is cursed. After pouring billions of US $ into the Continent in the and early 90’s, money began to dry up at the turn of the century. This is the question we want to deal with: “Is Africa Cursed?” There are two responses to the question
