3 FIGURE 2 Overall survival curves of patients with lung cancer according to the histology in the late period. The 5-year survival rates were 63.8, 47.3, 56.3, and 34.3% in adenocarcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, large cell carcinoma, and small cell carcinoma, respectively. The prognosis was significantly better in adenocarcinoma than small cell carcinoma (p < 0.01). There were no significant differences between small cell carcinoma and large cell carcinoma or between small cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma.
