4 Luke 1: 26In the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town in Galilee called Nazareth, 27to a virgin engaged to a man named Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. 28And the angel came to her and said, “Rejoice, favored woman! The Lord is with you.” 29But she was deeply troubled by this statement, wondering what kind of greeting this could be.

9 30Then the angel told her: “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31Now listen: You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will call His name ‘Jesus.’ 32He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. 33He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will have no end.”

13 34Mary asked the angel, “How can this be, since I have not been intimate with a man?” 35The angel replied to her: “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore, the holy One to be born will be called the Son of God. 36And consider your relative Elizabeth - even she has conceived a son in her old age, and this is the sixth month for her who was called childless. 37For nothing will be impossible with God.”

25 42Then she exclaimed with a loud cry: “You are the most blessed of women, and your child will be blessed! 43How could this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 44For you see, when the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby leaped for joy inside me! 45She who has believed is blessed because what was spoken to her by the Lord will be fulfilled!”

40 Luke 6: 20Then looking up at His disciples, He said: “You who are poor are blessed, because the kingdom of God is yours. 21You who are now hungry are blessed, because you will be filled. You who now weep are blessed, because you will laugh. 22You are blessed when people hate you, when they exclude you, insult you, and slander your name as evil because of the Son of Man. 23Rejoice in that day and leap for joy! Take note - your reward is great in heaven, for this is the way their ancestors used to treat the prophets.

47 Luke 6: 27“But I say to you who listen: Love your enemies, do what is good to those who hate you, 28bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. 29If anyone hits you on the cheek, offer the other also. And if anyone takes away your coat, don’t hold back your shirt either. 30Give to everyone who asks you, and from one who takes your things, don’t ask for them back. 31Just as you want others to do for you, do the same for them. 32If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. 33If you do what is good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that.

Figs aren’t gathered from thornbushes, or grapes picked from a bramble bush. 45A good man produces good out of the good storeroom of his heart. An evil man produces evil out of the evil storeroom, for his mouth speaks from the overflow of the heart.”

He came looking for fruit on it and found none. 7He told the vineyard worker, ‘Listen, for three years I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree and haven’t found any. Cut it down! Why should it even waste the soil?’ 8“But he replied to him, ‘Sir, leave it this year also, until I dig around it and fertilize it. 9Perhaps it will bear fruit next year, but if not, you can cut it down.’”

96 In the quiet and in the deep, He speaks.
In the simple and in the profound, He instructs. In the things that break you and wound you, He comforts. In places where there is judgment and anger, He brings peace. In the chaos and in that which is unsettling, He provides order. In all that is lacking and undone, for those things that bring anxiety and distress, He provides shelter. Complete to the broken, and art from your ashes. His ways are higher and better.

104 He carries you when you cannot walk and shoulders the burdens when you falter and faint.
He is the reason you love and the well from which it is supplied. “My grace is made perfect in weakness,” He sings over you. “I always have time,” He continues. “There is no longing I cannot fix, no empty I cannot fill, no pain I cannot heal. I love you, sweet child. Come to me in the quiet. I am enough.” (Danielle Opitz)
