Locker size – 11 ½” wide and 28” tall and 11” deep 1.5" - 2" zip-up 3-ring binder Four spiral notebooks Two "cow" notebooks Three-hole punch that fits in binder hand-held pencil sharpener notebook paper (wide-ruled) #2 pencils colored pencils and highlighters blue/black pens scissors glue stick ear buds sticky notes TI-34 multi-view calculator (optional for home use)

4 WMS Dress Code WMS students adhere to a standard dress policy:
Safety for students on and off campus Preparation for professional future Leveling the playing field for all WMS students Bottoms: Blue or Khaki No cargo pockets Knee-length for shorts and skirts Tops: Solid color (blue, dark green, white, or khaki) Polo or crew neck No logos other than WMS

7 AIG Students who were AIG in 5th grade continue AIG in middle school.
Students who qualified at the end of the year will be notified. Transfer students from another county need to Dr. Bill Cook or Ms. Danielle Sullivan to schedule summer testing. (See UCPS website) Curriculum/Expectations

Multiplication Facts memorized up to 10s Add, Subtract, Multiply, Divide Whole Numbers Add, Subtract, and Multiply Fractions and Mixed Number Add, Subtract, and Multiply Decimals Place Value -- billions to hundredths Know how to find area and perimeter of rectangles and squares Know Geometric shapes up to 10 sides

10 Math Curriculum Division of Whole Numbers, Decimals, Fractions and Mixed Numbers Understanding Integers (no computation) Graphing in a 4-quadrant coordinate plane Ratios and Proportions Fraction/Decimal/Percents and Percent Proportion Area and perimeter of parallelograms, triangles, trapezoids and compound shapes Surface Area of Prisms and Pyramids and Volume of Rectangular Prisms Order of Operations, Algebraic Expressions, One-Step Equations Collecting Data, Graphing Data, Interpreting Statistics Histograms, Scatter Plots, Box and Whisker Plots

All of 6th grade curriculum and half of 7th grade curriculum Extra topics covered in Compacted Math will include: Computation with rational numbers: All operations with integers All operations with positive and negative fractions and mixed numbers All operations with positive and negative decimals Solving Multi-Step Equations Percentage Problems such as sales tax, mark-ups, discounts, simple interest, and percent of change Circumference and Area of Circles and Parts of Circles Math 6 includes: All of 6th grade curriculum at standard pace

30 School Nurse Info Required vaccines for 6th graders:
T-dap (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) Tetanus shot (within the last five years) Proof from a doctor must be provided confirming date vaccine was given If proof is not provided by the 30th day of school, your child will be excluded until the information is received
