4 BASCS AFTER SCHOOL FUN FACTS When: Monday – Thursday Time : 3:15 – 5:15pm (from 3:15 – 4pm students enrolled in the program are in a quiet study hall in Library, Cafeteria or in a classroom) Date: October 1 st, 2013 – June 13 th, 2014 (runs in 8-wk quarters)

5 Cost COSTS FOR BASCS AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM Yearly Fee (covers entire school year) $50.00 per child Quarterly Fee (covers 8 weeks of ASP) $20.00 per child After School Transportation Fee (covers 8 weeks of ASP) An additional $10.00 per child Program Schedule 3:20 – 3:55 Academic Intervention Time Study Hall, Homework Help and Tutoring sessions Students will be given a snack 4:00 – 5:15 Club, Class and Sport Programming of students choice 5:15 – 5:30 Dismissal and Parent Pick Up

6 The BASCS After School Program will create a safe learning environment for students between the grades of 7- 12 th, where they will grow through enrichment, academic and social programs. VISION

QUARTERLY NEW ACTIVITIES FOR 2 ND QTR Adding new clubs like: BASCS CHORUS, Buffalo Wild Animal Adventure, Sign Language Club, College Readiness and Writing, and African Dance Already have new students enrolling who did not enroll for the 1 st quarter Partnered with the Literacy Night to have an excellent After School Showcase There are 49 students enrolled for the year and 43 students who were enrolled for the first quarter

11 FUTURE PLANS Partner with Journeys End to bring in the IMPACT program to our school to help ESL students Partner with local colleges to bring in future teachers to tutor and mentor our students Partner with community organizations like GOBIKE and Computers for Children Partner with the WNY After School Alliance and attend meetings Find and apply to as many After School grants as possible

13 Vision BASCS students and staff will do volunteer work throughout the school year to not only increase BASCS visibility but to teach our students the importance of service and character. 14 How does this work? Once a month, small groups (10 – 15) of students will go to an assigned locations to volunteer Each grade level has a different day to volunteer The time frame will be for about 2-3 hours between 9:15 am and 12:15pm depending on the location Community Service Days are in September, October, December and March Community Service Schedule Grade LevelVolunteer Day 12 th 1 st Friday 11 th 2 nd Friday 10 th 3 rd Friday 9 th 4 th Friday 7-8 th ½ Days

16 How it works BASCS students and staff go on college tours. Students complete 3 forms about the college they are attending All colleges will be Say Yes Institutions College Tours will occur either on half days, Fridays and during Spring Break All college tours will be local during the 1 st semester All college tours will be regional during the 2 nd semester NOTE: To change images on this slide, select a picture and delete it.
