a. Convert from commercial to war materials. i. Victory depended on industrial power. b. Key to Victory: i. PRODUCE more than the enemy can destroy. c. Car factories convert to producing tanks, bombers, and other equipment. i. C. F.’s produce 1/3 of all military equipment built during the war.

A. Selective Service and Training Act: i. a.k.a. the Draft ii. 5 million volunteered + 10 million drafted = 15 million TOTAL! B. Problems: i. Basic training didn’t prepare for real war. ii. US military was still completely segregated. iii. Lack of size and good equipment.
