What was the purpose of each of the pieces? What points were emphasized in each piece? Were the themes, concepts, ideas, content, etc. the same or different in each piece? Was either piece more convincing than the other? Bellringer WORK SILENTLY ON THE FOLLOWING FOR 10 MINUTES! On your own paper, create a chart or venn diagram identifying as many similarities and differences as you can between “Henrietta’s Dance” and The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks.

What were some of the differences you noticed? What were some of the similarities? When you are preparing to write a comparison/contrast, how do you decide which points to include and which to leave out? Are there any other points you imagine you’ll have difficulty with as you write?

6 The Assignment Rubric: Comparison Claim—3 points Comparison Cite—3 points Comparison Clarify—3 points Contrast Claim—3 points Contrast Cite—3 points Contrast Clarify—3 points Grammar Conventions—2 points Write 2 CCCs—one that compares the pieces and on that contrasts them. Each CCC should make a CLAIM, CITE information from the film or text to back that claim, and then CLARIFY how that information relates back to the claim. This will be worth 20 points. It is due by the end of the period!
