Big Picture Lesson 7: Preparing for Drafting Sections

2 Coursework Lesson 6: Drafting Sections
Even better: Evaluate the effectiveness of different paragraphs and use this to model what you will do Good learning: Understand what is required in drafting your sections Great learning: Explain how issues developed through the 100 year period Key Words:

3 Anti-Semitism: Big Picture
The question is focused on whether anti-Semitism amongst the German people was an anomaly during the Nazi period ( ) or whether anti-Semitism was consistently present at extreme levels amongst the German people throughout the period To judge this you need to try to measure the level of Anti-Semitism at different points in time and compare it to the Nazi period. This is not straight forward as Germany changes dramatically during this period and there is no easy single measure of Anti-Semitism. The best way to approach the question is through the themes of violence, government/ law and Press/literature/media. It may well be that in one theme the Nazi period strongly stands out as an anomaly whilst in the others it doesn’t. Read and Complete the anti-Semitism hand-out to help secure your overall understanding

4 Anti-Semitism: Big Picture

Anti-Semitism Violence Government/ Laws Press/ literature/ media Civil Rights Leaders (King) Communication Organisation Working with white leaders Each theme should be between 500 and 1000 words by the end of this term. In each theme you need to find events from across the 100 years present and argument relating to the question. You can have different arguments in different themes e.g. Anti-Semitic violence was an anomaly under the Nazis but the ideas in press and literature much less so.

7 Example paragraphs Look at the selection of example Paragraphs:
Identify what the different colours stand for. Identify which is the best and which is the worse paragraph and why Write a paragraph on your topic in the style of the best example.

Write an introduction and conclusion for each theme Make sure all your paragraphs use PEEl paragraphs.
