10 FdSc Sports (Coaching) FdSc Sports (Coaching) If you are motivated by the challenge of working with adults and children, and have a passion for helping others to enjoy and improve their sporting abilities, then Sports Coaching is for you. Career Opportunities There are opportunities to be employed as a Community Sports Coach and to work for local authority Sports Development Units or with National Governing Bodies.

11 FdSc Sports (Fitness) This vocationally-orientated course develops the skills, knowledge and personal attributes needed for careers in the rapidly expanding sports, fitness and leisure industry. Career Opportunities There are opportunities for employment at higher supervisor/lower management levels within sports and leisure centres, health and fitness clubs, in sports development or as personal trainers. For example opportunities exist for roles as Fitness Manager, Studio Manager and Personnel Trainer.

12 FdSc Sports (Development) Sports Development is seeking to develop knowledge and skills of the profession from a community sport and performance sports perspective. Career Opportunities This Foundation Degree will enable students to apply for posts as Local Authority or National Governing Body Sports Development Officers. Progression Opportunities Students successfully completing this Foundation Degree will be able to Top-Up to year three of the BSc (hons) Sports Development.

17 Sports Coaching Sports coaching looks to develop innovative and knowledgeable coaches who are skilled to excel in a range of coaching environments. We aim to produce coaches with a passion for their profession and the ability to develop and teach both novices and elite athletes. We have close links with local sports clubs and partners that will provide you with excellent opportunities to be involved in high quality sport and sports coaching.

18 Sports Therapy Students are encouraged to undertake periods of clinical practice, on and off campus. Students who have demonstrated their clinical competence will qualify for full membership of The Society of Sports Therapists and be able to obtain professional indemnity insurance. The programme is taught by specialists in their respective disciplines, which reflects the varied clinical expertise available within the department.

19 Applied Sport and Exercise Studies The BSc Applied Sport and Exercise studies is an ideal top up for anyone who has completed any Foundation Degree or HND in the broad area of Sport and/or Exercise. The unique structure of the course allows students to further develop their own specialist area.
