A free, confidential, non-regulatory resource to help with permits and regulatory compliance

3. BERC Begins
BERC was created in 1993, by the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors
Study revealed that the business community wanted an impartial, confidential, third party to assist them with regulatory compliance issues.

Be in compliance with current environmental regulations
Meet the program’s minimum standards for resource conservation and pollution prevention by completing the checklists.
Allow scheduled verification visits.

Download Implementation Checklists from SacBerc.org/SASB
Select the sustainability measures you are going to implement or have already implemented
Submit measures to BERC
BERC reviews measures, conducts site visit, and issues SASB Certificate along with a window decal
Update BERC with any changes in location, status, and sustainable measures

14. Sustainable Measures Checklist
In order to be certified, a business must implement a minimum number of these measures. The measures require changes in equipment, as well as changes in practices, which enhance sustainability.

A business can either implement measures suggested on the checklist, or enter their own unique measures in the “OTHER” box on the checklist.

A certified business receives a 8 ½” by 11” certificate and a 5” by 5” window decal to display at their facility.
