**All living things grow and develop during at least part of their life.
Growing means INCREASING IN SIZE

Autotrophs (Producers) get energy from the SUN through PHOTOSYNTHESIS
Heterotrophs (Consumers) get energy by EATING
METABOLISM- BREAKING DOWN FOOD TO RELEASE ENERGY

**Organisms detect and respond to STIMULI
(or signals) from their environment.
PHOTOTROPISM
**Internal stimuli = inside the organism
**External stimuli = outside the organism

Despite changing conditions around them, organism must keep their internal conditions stable/balanced.
