3 Introduction to Web Programming
Students will develop the skill & knowledge of web page design using the software called ‘notepad ++’ and the programming language HTML. This course covers the basics of HTML using the two technologies required in all webpages today: HTML (which provides structure) & CSS (which sets formatting & positioning). Assessment will be carried out throughout the module on a continuous basis and also on the grading of the project which is submitted at the end of the module. Continuous assessment: 20% Final project (3 page website): 80% This course will help students to learn to think creatively, reason systematically and work collaboratively which are essential skills for life in the 21st century. We are living in an IT-literate world therefore this is an employability skill and Ireland is in need for a new generation of problem solvers.

4 INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (E-PORTFOLIO)
The younger generation are already exposed to computers almost from the day they are born therefore they are tech savvy already. However we want our students to be fluent in software like word processing, PowerPoint, which are vital skills to have when progressing into college and the world of work. This course will have particular emphasis on keyboarding skills and the use of the computer as a tool for working and learning. The course will also include google suite software involving: docs, slides, sheets, forms. It is a web-based office suite and data storage service offered by Google. It enables users to create online documents and edit them collaboratively.

5 ASSESSMENT Students will have regular touch typing tests to measure their typing progress. Students will type for 10 minutes at 25 words per minute for ordinary level and at a rate of 30 words per minute for higher level. Students will develop an e-portfolio (using google drive) that contains course work throughout the year. Students will be assessed on the various google suite APPs (docs, sheets, forms) throughout the year.    E-portfolio 20% Tough typing 30% Google suite 50%

6 CAREER AND COLLEGE PREPARATION PROGRAMME
The REACH+ Career & College Preparation Programme is the most advanced career guidance online programme available in CUS. It covers a comprehensive range of topics designed to help your son prepare for the transition from school to either work or college. It is managed by the school guidance counsellor, is full of engaging activities, and requires active participation by the student. The programme encourages students to match their aptitude, values, interests and personality to career pathways and course opportunities.

7 Content & Assessment When your son joins Reach+ (online and workbook), they create a Career File that can be used to help them manage there career for the final 3 years in CUS. The Programme is divided into five main areas: Career Planning and Research Self-Assessment Study Performance World of Education World of Work Assessment: DATs (Differential Aptitude Test) - A report on these results is sent home. Students learn about their natural strengths and weaknesses. During the year students have the opportunity to attend career talks with outside speakers and career trips.
