5. Methods
A registry search was done any time a child’s immunization status was in question
Information retrieved from the registry was tracked at 3 of the 7 immunization sites
3 sites have ASIIS look-up capability on site
4 sites must “call in” for record searches
The cost of each vaccine found was documented

6. Results April through September $8.00 per immunization
$48, was saved in vaccine costs
3725 immunizations were not administered
$8.00 per immunization
$29,800 savings to the county

7. Conclusion ASIIS was funded through the 2003-2004 budget
Use of a registry has numerous benefits
Reduction of duplication of vaccines administered
Saving vaccine costs and administration costs
Saving lost work time for parents and lost school time for children

8. Future Plans
All future Maricopa County Immunization sites must have ASIIS capabilities.

9. Current Immunization Delivery System
5 fixed clinic sites with ASIIS capability
Implementation of the following policies
All children presenting without a personal immunization record will be researched
All children presenting with a not up-to-date record will be researched
