Prioritize actions for the next year What actions do we want to continue? What new actions do we want to pursue? Leadership Focus Area Champions Membership (New member packet) Support from NJTPA and VTC

6 Focus Area 11: Transition to a clean energy economy
Strategies Reduce energy use through conservation and increased efficiency Transition to carbon-free electricity generation, including increased use of renewables Modernize and upgrade the region’s power infrastructure Reduce transportation petroleum use •At the end of 2017, NJTPA completed a study on AFV readiness planning. The work entailed the development of three pilot municipal readiness plans (Secaucus, Woodbridge and Montclair). It also included the development of a guidebook for other municipalities in the region to refer to in developing their own readiness plans for alternative fuel vehicle infrastructure. The focus of this planning work was on electric vehicles. •In late Spring of 2018, NJTPA and Sustainable Jersey met with Somerset County to discuss their efforts to plan for electric vehicle and also hosted a public workshop in Newark and in Monmouth County. The goal of the workshops was to provide local officials, planners and stakeholders with an opportunity to learn from experts in the field about what actions municipalities can take to get ready for the electric vehicle market. •The Draft Beneficiary Mitigation Plan, currently under development by the NJ Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), will summarize how the State proposes to use the mitigation funds allocated to it under the Volkswagen Settlement. Approximately $10.8 million will be available for electric vehicle infrastructure and related opportunities. •DEP is accepting applications for the “It Pays to Plug In” waiting list, New Jersey’s electric vehicle workplace charging grant program. • The Board of Public Utilities is presently conducting an Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Stakeholder Process. The focus of this process is the electric distribution system infrastructure changes needed to facilitate electric vehicle adoption.
