1 Investigating Water: Part 2
Part 2 Explore 1 Day 2 What will happen over time when we place ice cubes on top of the covered cup? Question: I predict that this will happen when we put ice cubes on top of the covered cup: _____________________________________________________________________________. Prediction: Safety Goggles Covered cup Ice cubes Materials: Plastic baggie Rubber band

2 Part 2 Explore 2 Day 2 Procedure: Fill the cup about ½ full with water. Cover the cup using the plastic baggie. Gently push the baggie into the cup to create a bowl shape above the water. Secure the baggie in place with the rubber band. Carefully flip-up the edges of the baggie for a better view of the bowl when looking through the cup.

3 Draw and label a picture of the covered cup with the ice cubes on top.
Part 2 Explore 3 Day 2 Procedure: Place the ice cubes into the bowl shape of the plastic baggie covering the cup. Draw and label a picture of the covered cup with the ice cubes on top. Observe what happens …after about 20 minutes. … To Be Continued in about 20 minutes…

4 Investigating Water: Part 1
Explore 4 Day 2 4. Procedure: Remember we did this part of our investigation yesterday. Let’s continue here today. 5. Observe how much water is in each cup. Is the water in each cup still at the line you marked in step 2? Also observe the plastic wrap over the cup for possible changes. Record your observations in your science notebook. 8 Wet Swimsuit Becomes a Dry Swimsuit
Explain 3 Day 2 Wet Swimsuit Becomes a Dry Swimsuit Remember this? Samantha went swimming at the pool. She was ready to go home for lunch but forgot her towel to dry off. She climbed out of the pool and sat on a lawn chair for about 1 hour and noticed that her swim suit was no longer dripping wet and felt dry instead. Circle the reason that best explains what happened to the water in Samantha’s wet swimsuit after 1 hour. It disappeared and no longer exists. It is in the air in an invisible form. Explain your thinking. _________________ ________________________________ It moved up to the clouds. It changed into something new. It went up to the sun. Draw a picture to help explain your thinking.

Part 2 Explain 5 Day 2 20 minutes later… Observe and Record: After 20 minutes, draw and label a new picture of what you observe in the covered cup with ice cubes on top. Compare the drawing of the covered cup at the beginning of this investigation to the drawing of the cup after 20 minutes. What do you think caused the difference? Explain and Conclude:
