5 Federation WASH Challenges The urban poor are largely ignored in terms of service provision by the city authorities in most less-developed countries. Budgetary support is low. Innovation requires continuity in HR, people are learning, organisations more slowly Innovation project require more time and energy than usual programmes: plan for it

6 Federation WASH Planning & next steps Field testing of sludge transfer stations in Malawi early 2018 (consortium with WASTE foundation - to make emptying business more efficient) Developing new efficient ways of faecal sludge treatment (UNESCO-IHE, Dutch Coalition for Humanitarian Innovation (DCHI), WASTE) Developing new models of ROM (for different settings) Bringing innovation to scale - Urban WASH TWG ??
