1 Learning Intention Long-Run Relative Frequency
Success Criteria Calculate probabilities from Long-run experiments and results

2 Do Now – Recapping Theoretical probabilities
When a die is tossed what is the probability that the result is even? A spinner is divided into 5 equal sectors numbered 1 to 5. What is P(3)? P(number greater than 1)? A bag contains 6 blue marbles, 3 white and 4 green marbles. What is the probability of choosing at random: A blue marble? A blue or green marble?

3 Long-run Relative Frequency
Not equally likely outcomes Repeat the situation a large number of times under the same circumstances. P(event) = number of times event happens number of trials E.g. Describe how you would determine the probability that a coin when tossed onto a square grid like this one will land completely inside a square (not on a line). You would draw up the grid and carry out the experiment (at least 30 times). Draw up a tally table and complete it.
