7 In writing… The grey sidewalk is polka dotted with old discolored gum. The taxi screeches by and disappears into the sea of yellow. In the distance a woman’s scream echoes off the dark decaying buildings and is swallowed by the night. I walk on into the smog. The city sparkled like the eye of a child. As I skipped down the street the lights from the signs, cars, windows and stars created a soft glow on my smiling face. The buzz of the traffic melted in with the voices and feet on the pavement – I couldn’t believe I was finally here!
