Henry Ford- introduced new methods and ideas that changed the way manufactured goods were made. Mass Production- The rapid manufacture of large numbers of identical products. Assembly Line- Arrangement of equipment and workers in which work passes from operation to operation in direct line until the product is assembled.

5 A bustling economy Consumer Revolution- A flood of new affordable goods became available to the public. Installation Buying- A consumer would make a small down payment, and pay the rest off monthly. Bull Market- A period of rising stock prices

7 The Harding Administration
During Harding’s administration, big business was being favored by the government. Andrew Mellon- A banker who was named Secretary of the Treasury. Teapot Dome scandal- The Secretary of the Interior Albert Fall took bribes to transfer control of oil reserves from the United States Navy to private oilmen. Pair & Share: Harding, who admitted to preferring playing golf or poker to governing, trusted his friends with important government positions. This being an example of cronyism. How does making a banker the Secretary of the Treasury characterize the goal of the American Federal Government? How might Harding’s lack of leadership effect American society?

8 Coolidge Prosperity Warren Harding suffered a heart attack and died on August 2nd 1923 Calvin Coolidge was made president after the death of Harding. Coolidge was also a supporter of big business. Used legislation to achieve social change. Reduced the national debt, and lowered taxes to give incentives to big businesses. Did nothing for farmers, racial discrimination and low wages.
