Write on the RIGHT SIDE of your journal

2 Observation The process of obtaining information using your sense
Sometimes our senses are not good enough for specific observations so we use tools such as: Microscopes Telescopes Scales/ rulers Thermometers

3 Inference Mental judgements you make based on your observations
NOT observed, more like a conclusion about your observation

4 Example 1 Observation: A plant is wilted
Inference: The plant must need water

5 Example 2 Observation: The car stopped running
Inference: The driver forgot to get gas

6 Example 3 Observation: Ms. Gravette is yelling
Inference: She is upset because students are talking

7 Give some Observations and Inferences about the picture.

8 Give some Observations and Inferences about the picture.

9 Reflection (Left Side)
Record 5 observations that you see in your home or backyard. Next to each observation, provide an inference that could be made based upon your observation.
