1 CMDP: NC Experience

2 DSE and CROMERR No script available to create Batch and DSE user accounts. It took more than 60 processing hours to migrate from NC SDWIS to CMDP initially. DSE should display number of records migrated to SDWIS. Set DSE and XML Sampling scheduler 10 minutes apart: don’t run concurrently. No easy way to sync inventory with test database. It took 2-3 weeks to receive CROMERR approval

3 Some EPA-approved analyte – method code pairs in use by NC labs are not available in CMDP
Missing Analyte Code – Method Code pairs prohibits full CMDP implementation If labs are certified to use EPA-approved methods, they all need to be in CMDP Multiple method codes associated with same method name for same analyte group (905, 905.0) NC has more than 800 valid analyte code – method code pairs, approximately 400 pairs have no labs certified to run, but subject to change at any time. EPA not adding EPA-approved methods for federally unregulated contaminants. Simple process needed to add analyte code – method code pairs to CMDP. Prefer ability for states to address state-specific needs w/o EPA intervention.

4 Develop/upgrade NC Lab Data Submittal application
NC developed simplified CMDP specifications to assist labs. 3 ways to generate xml file: template, XML generator, mapping tool NC provides sample ID format if labs need to revise sample results Lack of release number on sample result xml schema adds confusion. Set due date for labs to convert. Rest web service call - .net build in function does not work with CMDP web service, need to use http client API. Maintain a good relationship with labs – we need their cooperation.

5 NC Advice for Technical Support
Use XML editor to view xml , schema, validate xml. Use Hex editor to view unprintable characters. Run RTCR monitoring period association daily. Use web conference software to view production lab job validation information. Develop report for SDWIS/XML Sampling (Prime) final migration status. Develop samples lookup tool – search by date and lab ID.

6 NC Requests Revisit existing CMDP analyte code – method code pairs.
Some method names maps to multiple method codes: ex: 905 vs 905.0 Add EPA-approved analyte code – method code pairs to CMDP Create process for quickly adding new analyte code – method code pairs Need to clarify EPA Interface Control Documentation – NC cannot follow instruction to call authentication web service. Please do not update xml schema! Reprogramming needed every time. Prefer single internet location to find software and documentation for each release: too spread out

7 CMDP - Outcome Job status of “accepted by state” may be misleading as this is not the final migration status. RTCR positive sample and its repeat samples must ALL be entered from either CMDP or Lab to State. First lab switched to CMDP in Nov 2017, all records have been accepted by SDWIS/XML Sampling. Second lab switched to CMDP in June 2018. Majority of labs can’t switch until missing analyte – method pairs are added. ~5 LIMS labs All labs using the NC Lab Data Submittal program
