3 Medieval (11th Century) Started to use the ‘lens’ (half sphere glass) to read and write manuscripts.

4 14th Century “Pince-nez”
Made from quartz and set in bone, metal or leather

5 18th Century Spectacles were invented (had side arms or a way to hold them on face)

6 Some other facts Glasses were seen in some countries to show wealth and intelligence Spain, America Other countries only wore them in private and were embarrassed France

8 1950’s “Glamour” glasses arrived Diamonds and wings
