2. OCCA – O2K – OLT Ways We Are Unique
Takes a measured advocacy role based on sound science and environmental policy research.
Provides direct land use and environmental planning assistance to local government through Circuit Rider Planner Program.
Provides hands-on assistance with recycling/solid waste management and energy conservation initiatives countywide.
Provides hands-on assistance with invasive species removal/remediation and stewardship activities on Otsego County lands and waters.
Provides funding/oversight for programs countywide related to non-point source pollution, erosion control and environmental education as well as research/internship opportunities for students in elementary through graduate school.
Provides research and monitoring for stream quality on local waterways.
OCCA
Engages in real estate transactions to conserve private land through acquisition or donation of conservation easements.
Engages in real estate transactions to acquire land to protect and open to public access.
Stewards and monitors easements to assure maintenance of conservation values in perpetuity.
Stewards and monitors fee-owned lands to assure maintenance of conservation values and adequate and safe public access.
OLT
Takes strong advocacy role, including litigation, on controversial development issues that threaten Otsego Lake Region.
Provides legal assistance to municipalities working to enact land use protections and to local activist groups fighting to protect their towns.
Advocates for and institutes preservation planning initiatives (historic and cultural resources documentation, national historic districts, and preservation-minded ordinances).
Promotes Main Street economic development and rural entrepreneurship (Cooperstown Farmers’ Market , Glimmerglass Film Days, Local Foods/Local Spirits, Otsego Outdoors).
