4 What’s New Effective April 30, new direct contact leaders must complete Hazardous Weather Training to be considered position trained Q. If I am trained in my current position, will I be required to take Hazardous Weather now to retain the trained designation? A. No, if you are currently trained in your position you will not be required to take the additional course now. We recommend if you have not taken the updated course (SCO_800) that you do so to have the most current content.

6 What’s New (Con’t) Effective the 2018 BSA summer camp season, any adult accompanying a Boy Scout troop to a residence camp or other Scouting activity lasting 72 hours or more must be registered as a leader, including completion of a CBC [criminal background check] and YPT, even if they are the parent of a youth on the trip Tip: Position Code 91, “Scouter Reserve” will preclude any additional position-specific training requirements—but then again, why not fill a real need!
