How can we facilitate this with our clients?
Be frank, open and honest both about their challenges and strengths
Keep parents involved in the planning whenever possible – use words like “we, us, together, our plan, it will be your decision”.
Involve family members who will or can be impacted by the plan
Allow family members to honestly share their point of view about services
Communicate (two way whenever possible) to everyone who will be impacted at key decision points
