2809 K-Botics Pre-season Training Week 2
Still Brought to you by the letter The Queen’s FIRST Robotics Team
2
Today’s Schedule Brief Presentation Game Rules Mechanical Design Guided Idea generation Stick-it Note Design Group Work kit of parts in week 3
3
No user input/control after robot starts moving No projectiles
Trench Bot Rules No user input/control after robot starts moving No projectiles No high pressure systems (<50PSI) No additional force generating components (ie: motors, actuators, etc). Springs are allowed as they do not generate force, they return energy. No stored energy from material deformation at the start of the run. No external power source Thank you to everyone who posted Remember to post all questions to the facebook wall before Monday Midnight
4
Robot cannot damage the course
Trench Bot Rules Robot cannot damage the course Robot must fit within 12”x12”x 6” starting volume Robot must stay within trench No biological materials No flying No fluids Thank you to everyone who posted Remember to post all questions to the facebook wall before Monday Midnight
5
Additional Rules Course obstruction ≤1” (height) Parts can be manufactured out of any material but the manufacturing process cannot be computer aided. Ie: No CNC machining or rapid prototyping, but can be machined manually NOTE: Any discrepancy with the rules will fall to the judges’ ruling.
6
Demonstration Day November 15th, 2012 8 minute presentation (Design, Key features, etc.) 5 minute demonstration 3-5 Judges Parents will be invited There will be food!
7
Mechanical Design CDIO (Conceive, Design, Implement, Operate) is an innovative educational framework for producing the next generation of engineers
8
Machine A machine is a powered tool consisting of one or more parts that is constructed to achieve a particular goal. Made Up OF: System Sub-system Component
9
Motion In physics, motion is a change in position of an object with respect to time. [ Two types of motion Rotation Translation (linear motion)
10
Descriptions of motion
Continuous Sporadic Oscillatory Reciprocal Intermittent
11
Rotational Motion Mechanisms
12
Linear Motion Mechanisms
13
Roller Clutch
14
Next Week Mechanical Force/motion transferring (gears, belts, etc.) Friction reducing devices (bearings, bushings) Fasteners Programming
15
Simple by nature, complicated by design -anonymous
