He is the world’s most famous playwright (a person who writes plays) He was the third child and oldest son of John and Mary Arden Shakespeare. Little is known about Shakespeare’s mother, except that she was from a wealthier family than his father. Shakespeare’s father had the following jobs: Tanner Glove maker An alderman-English Councilman A high bailiff, or mayor. (One term)

Poet-He wrote poetry, specifically, sonnets- a poem that has 14 lines The rhyme scheme ( or poetic pattern) is a-b-a-b, c-d-c-d, e-f-e-f, g-g Also known as-Iambic pentameter He wrote 154 sonnets Playwright-He wrote plays-He is most famous for the plays that he wrote In total he wrote 38 plays

6 When Did Shakespeare Live?
Shakespeare was thought to be born on April 23, 1564. This was the sixth year of the reign of Queen Elizabeth He got married in 1582 to a woman who was 7 or 8 years older then him. He had his children between During he enjoyed the most success as a playwright. On April 23, 1616, Shakespeare died at the age of 52.

8 Where Did Shakespeare live?
Shakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avon, England (In Warwickshire, the heart of England.) In Shakespeare's day it was well farmed and heavily wooded. The town itself was prosperous and progressive. In 1592, Shakespeare lived in London and he was an actor and a playwright. In 1597, Shakespeare had bought New Place, the largest house in Stratford. During the next three years he bought other property in Stratford and in London.

10 Why Do People Still Read Shakespeare?
Shakespeare's continued popularity is due to many things. His plays are filled with action, his characters are believable, and his language is thrilling to hear or read. Underlying all this is Shakespeare's deep humanity. He was a profound student of people and he understood them. He had a great tolerance, sympathy, and love for all people, good or evil.
