1 Introduction – our vision
Everyone has a place to call home and can fulfil their hopes and ambitions Our values We are empowering, inclusive, committed, creative, accountable Our five year ambition Our ambition is to reverse the increase in rough sleeping in England. In the areas where we work, we aim to halve the number of people sleeping rough.

2 Introduction – our story
1969 St Mungo’s was founded to help rough sleepers. 2014 St Mungo’s and Broadway merged, becoming St Mungo’s Broadway. In 2016, we changed our name to St Mungo’s. Today, we’re one of Britain’s leading charities supporting people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. We are a delivery charity – which means we provide direct support to homeless people, not just talk about it. We are a community housing association. We have worked in Brighton and Hove since 2015.

3 St Mungo's Street Outreach
Street Outreach teams go out in pairs, or smaller groups, at night and early in the morning. They try to meet with people who are rough sleeping, to help people into accommodation. We believe it is harmful, dangerous and ruins lives. That’s why we take a proactive and assertive approach to support people to move away from the streets and recover from the effects of rough sleeping.

4 Our Approach Our guiding principles are that we:
We keep the individual at the centre of all we do We support, challenge and inspire people on the journey from street to home We work collaboratively and in partnership We are committed to best practice We are passionate about innovation and taking positive risks We are open to challenge and scrutiny We do not give up.

5 Our Approach What is Assertive Outreach?
Assertive Outreach is not enforcement, it is about providing consistent, frequent and appropriate support to help individuals move off the street It is about Partnership Working. Outreach services should build relationships with a wide variety of local partners to enable them to support individuals sleeping rough quickly and effectively. Assertive Outreach also relies on accurate record keeping, to support clients and monitor trends.

6 Rough Sleeper Alerts Our outreach teams respond to referrals for people sleeping on the streets overnight. Public use StreetLink to make referrals.
