2. It's a boy!! Samuel was born in 1567, in Brauge,France.
When he was 20 he went to war for 5 years.

Between 1599 and 1601 Champlain voyaged to the west Indies with a Spanish expedition.

In 1613 he explored far up the Ottawa River in search of the new lands and more furs.

The fur companies had appointed Champlain governor of Quebec in 1612, and he hoped that the tiny settlement would grow into a strong colony.

In 1628, while England and France were at war, English ships blockaded Quebec.

11. 1st Voyage
In 1603 he made his first voyage to New France as a member of a fur-trading expedition.
Champlain first visited Canada in 1603, sailing up the St. Lawrence River as far as Montreal.

When New France was restored to France in 1632, Champlain returned.
