1 Habakkuk 3:17-19 – Responding to Trials with Joy
17 Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, 18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation. 19 God, the Lord, is my strength; he makes my feet like the deer's; he makes me tread on my high places. To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments.

Habakkuk describes catastrophic trials We face different kinds of trials today Brothers and sisters all around us are facing trials, often unseen by us God is good all the time (even when we face trials)

3 God is good all the time Psalm 84:11 “For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly.” James 1:17 Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.

Psalm 23:4 - “Though I will walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil, for you are with me.” Galatians 6:2 - “Bear one another's burdens” 2 Corinthians 1: “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,  the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4  who comforts us  in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.  5  For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ,  so also our comfort abounds through Christ.”

10 Application #1 Seek to encourage and lift up the brothers and sisters around you who are struggling.

Joy does not depend on circumstances Joy is a decision Joy comes from the Lord
