2 Landform: The ALPS The Alps is located in Europe. North of the Mediterranean sea. Some of the Alps uses are for Farms, climbers, and tourist. The Alps has bodies of water, so people can sail to the Alps and trade things with farmers and etc. The Alps are the highest and most extensive mountain range system that lies entirely in Europe, stretching approximately 1,200 kilometres across eight Alpine countries: Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Slovenia, and Switzerland. The mountains were formed over tens of millions of years as the African and Eurasian tectonic plates collided. Extreme shortening caused by the event resulted in marine sedimentary rocks rising by thrusting and folding into high mountain peaks such as Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn. Mont Blanc spans the French–Italian border, and at 4,810 m is the highest mountain in the Alps. The Alpine region area contains about a hundred peaks higher than 4,000 m, known as the "four-thousanders".

3 AGRICULTURE, HABITABLE, AND UNINHABITABLE
The difference between Habitable and Uninhabitable is that habitable is being capable of living in and uninhabitable isn’t capable of living in. In the last 50 years, traditional Alpine farming changed radically: remote farming locations were abandoned while the more favorable zones were intensified. This trend has led to a decrease in biodiversity as species rich mountain pastures are either converted into heavily fertilizerd ‘green deserts’ or overgrown by forests.

4 Ratios Problem 1: John is reading a book about the Alps animals. If John reads 10 pages in 15 minutes, how long will it take for him to read 60 pages? You have to do 15x6=90. The answer is 90 minutes. Problem 2 : On a car ride to the Alps Petting Zoo, Jewls family traveled 495 miles at 55 mph. How long did the trip take? You have to divide mph by the 495 which is can go into 495, 9 times because 55x9=495. The answer would be 9 hours.

5 Formation of the alps The Alps arose as a result of the collision of the African and Eurasian tectonic plates, in which the Alpine Tethys, which was formerly in between these continents, disappeared. Enormous stress was exerted on sediments of the Alpine Tethys basin and its Mesozoic and early Cenozoic strata were pushed against the stable Eurasian landmass by the northward-moving African landmass. Most of this occurred during the Oligocene and Miocene epochs. The pressure formed great recumbent folds, or nappes, that rose out of what had become the Alpine Tethys and pushed northward, often breaking and sliding one over the other to form gigantic thrust faults. Crystalline basement rocks, which are exposed in the higher central regions, are the rocks forming Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn, and high peaks in the Pennine Alps and Hohe Tauern (Stampfli & Borel ).

6 Some random facts about the alps
* The Alps exist because Europe and Africa colliding. * The Alps became of crucial importance during Roman expansion into the rest of Europe. * The Alps was formed 23 to 34 million years ago. * The Alps was formed trough uniformitarianism * The Alps would be a cool place to visit * People found a mummy that scientist say to be 2,000 years old.( in 1991)
