When everyone helps to create and knows our purpose and vision, we can all move toward the same goal (Actively Engaged in Learning)
When expectations are clearly defined by students and teachers we can ALL work together to be successful
Everyone is creating a Code of Success, because it is important for all of us to know what we are doing and why…

3. Creating OUR Code of Success for OUR class
Our EHS Code of Success will help guide our school
All students contribute to the Code of Success for EHS
We will create a Code of Success for this course
Our classroom Code of Success will help guide us in this class to define what it means to be “Actively Engaged” in Learning

4. What does it mean to be “Actively Engaged in Learning?”
Students: Brainstorm ideas about what behaviors YOU must do to demonstrate active engagement
What are you doing when you are “Actively Engaged”
Jot down words or phrases (on card/stickynotes)
Share out
Collect responses (or post on the board)
Ask students to come up with things they do that show they are engaged:
* Be on time
* Stay focused
*Take notes
*Ask Good Questions
This can be an Exit Ticket or a Bell Ringer

5. Continue the Process
Each consecutive class period can add to the Code of Success
All students in class will vote on the most important behaviors (in the next few days or so)
Top 5 responses will become the Code of Success in our class.
