1 Acceleration; Displacement & Centripetal force

2 Acceleration: Going faster & faster or slower & slower
The rate at which velocity changes with time change of velocity or speed Acceleration (a) = time interval a = F / m m/s2

3 Newton’s Second Law of Motion
The acceleration produced by a net force on an object is directly proportional to the net force, is in the same direction as the net force, and is inversely proportional to the mass of the object. It accelerates in the direction that you push it. If you push twice as hard…it accelerates twice as much. If it gets twice the mass…it accelerates half as much.

4 Newton’s Second Law

5 Displacement Displacement is a vector quantity – it tells you how much and in what direction Displacement tells you how far out of place an object is.

6 Centripetal Force Means “Center-seeking” - For object’s moving in a
circular motion, there is a net force acting towards the center which causes the object to seek the center

7

8 When you spin a bucket of water over your head without spilling a drop, you are also applying a centripetal force. If you let go of the bucket, it will move in a straight line.

9 Centripetal force pulls the plane toward the center of the circle
Centripetal force pulls the plane toward the center of the circle. The plane’s inertia makes it want to fly straight.
