1 THE GIFT OF JOY Luke 2:10-11; John 15:1-11

2 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid
10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.

3 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.

4 Joy is a product...

5 John 15:11 11 These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.

6 John 15:5-9 5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart

7 from me you can do nothing
from me you can do nothing. 6 If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned.

8 7 If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so

9 prove to be my disciples
prove to be my disciples. 9 As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love.

10 Joy is a product... of abiding in Jesus.

11 Luke 10:21  21 At that very time He rejoiced greatly in the Holy Spirit, and said, "I praise You, O Father, Lord of heaven and

12 earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to infants. Yes, Father, for this way was well-pleasing in Your sight.

13 Luke 15:5-7  "When he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. "And when he comes home, he calls together

14 his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!' "I tell you that in the same way, there will be more joy in

15 heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.”

16 John 8:29  And He who sent Me is with Me; He has not left Me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to Him.

17 Hebrews 12:2  Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the

18 cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

19 Joy is a product... of abiding in Jesus. as God’s plan unfolds.

20 John 16:20-22  20 Truly, truly, I say to you, that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; you will grieve, but

21 your grief will be turned into joy
your grief will be turned into joy. 21 Whenever a woman is in labor she has pain, because her hour has come; but when she gives birth to the child, she no longer

22 remembers the anguish because of the joy that a child has been born into the world. 22 Therefore you too have grief now; but I will see you again, and your heart will

23 rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.

24 Psalm 30:5 ~ For his anger is but for a moment, and his favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning.

25 1 Peter 5:10   10 And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ,

26 will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.

27 Job 38 tells us…  When God laid the earth’s foundation...the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy?

28 Joy is productive...

29 Joy is productive... for the spread of the gospel.

30 Luke 10:17-20  17 The seventy-two returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!” 18 And he

31 said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven
said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19 Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and

32 nothing shall hurt you. 20 Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”

33 Joy is in the One who produces Joy...

34 Joy is in the One who produces Joy...
The emotion produced by living in and living out the good news of Jesus.
