1 Why Your Mentor Wants You to Get Good Grades

2 One thought, you might want to focus a tad more on is exactly how much money they will need to survive post-high school.  Maybe a simple visual for one thing, say transporation.  You could show cost to ride the bus for a year, cost to buy and maintain a beater car and cost to buy and maintain a nice car.    Oh, I think it's good to show what happens if you don't go to college and what kinds of jobs would then be available. Possibly a table of diff types of jobs and their salaries

3 In Colorado from September 2013 through August 2014, the average unemployment rate for those with less than a high school diploma was 8.9 percent; the rate for those who completed high school was 5.2 percent. For those with some post-secondary training, it dropped to 4.7 percent. (

4 Students who end their ninth grade year on-track (that is, having enough credits to be promoted to tenth grade and having earned no more than one semester F in a core course) are almost four times more likely to graduate from high school than those who are off-track. In fact, a student’s on-track status is more predictive of high school graduation than their race/ethnicity, level of poverty, or test scores. DON’T USE THIS SLIDE IF STUDENTS ALREADY HAVE MORE THAN 1 F, BECAUSE IT’S POTENTIALLY TOTALLY DEMOTIVATING.
