2 Why is the Gap Analysis Important?
Since inception in FY 2014, the Gap Analysis has been an essential tool for system-wide planning and resource allocation. Results from the Gap Analysis Tool have informed VA and federal partners on the current and future needs of homeless Veterans throughout the country. Gap Analysis results are also frequently communicated to federal partners, Congress, and community partners. Data from the Gap Analysis is utilized to determine program resource allocation.

PIT and Other HUD Data Comparison, De-duplication, CoC/VA Mapping, and Analysis VA HOMES Data Local Validation and Verified BNL Submission If Available Community and VA Brainstorming, Planning, and Collaboration to Close Gaps SSVF HMIS Repository Data

5 Bridging the Gap In addition to improved operational strategies, data from the Gap Analysis is utilized to determine future program resource allocations. This includes HUD-VASH allocations, SSVF NOFAs, and GPD NOFAs. Future State Where we want to be Current State Where we are now HUD-VASH allocations SSVF NOFAs GPD Operational Strategies

6 Updates – VA and Community Feedback
Outdated assumptions and data in the Gap Analysis model may result in incorrect allocation of resources to your community. Therefore, although not required, it is strongly encouraged that you review the tool to ensure that the correct assumptions and data are included. It is important to have the local VA and Community Partners involved in providing feedback needed for updates.
