2. Thesis Statement... > Women should be able to hold any job in the military if they fit the role, and should not be discriminated against or be seen as weak because of their gender.

3. Background Information... ~There is a controversy questioning Whether or not placing women in combat roles Compromises force readiness. ~Seven out of ten Special Operation forces Oppose integrating women. ~Secretary Carter announced in 2016 that all Combat positions are open to women. ~Considered the most momentous military since President Truman racially integrated the armed services.

Advocate Reasons... ~Women have displayed incredible strength over the years -364 soldiers took on the Army Ranger Challenge -hiked up mountains, slogged through swamps, and took long distance marches with heavy packs -19 soldiers were women -96 soldiers completed the test and 3 of those were women

Second Reason.. ~ Women have always been involved in combat ~”Women dressed as men did get to the front line in combat (Skaine).” ~In World War II, 350,000 women had served ~Women know the risks, yet they still want to fight for their country ~Women in non-combat roles in the military are exposed to just as much danger as people in full combat.

Third Reason... ~The Fourteenth Amendment states, “ All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.”

9. Oppositions.. ~ “Women can’t handle war’s physical demands (Watts).” ~ Women entering Operations positions will impact combat effectiveness. ~ Integrating women into combat positions will make the battlefield more dangerous for men ~Females may endanger the units and make them out to be less lethal in battles

10. Rebuttal.. -Women are completely capable of performing difficult and brutal tasks with combat and females have nonetheless fought and died in Iraq and Afghanistan. ~Inaccurate concerns ~Concerns surface every time issues make it to the congressional floor so, these comments of men being stronger than women is anachronistic.
