2 M3G1. Students will further develop their understanding of geometric figures by drawing them. They will also state and explain their properties. b. Identify and compare the properties of fundamental geometric figures. c. Examine and compare angles of fundamental geometric figures.

3 How do you identify and draw lines, line segments, and rays?

4 A line goes on and on in both directions.
The arrows at each end of a line shows that the line does not stop.

5 A point shows a location on a line.
We will see points at the end of lines (end points) and on time/number lines.

6 A line segment is a part of a line.
A line segment has two end points.

7 A ray only goes one way . It has one end point.

8 An angle is made of two rays that share an end point.
You see angles on shapes!

9 Parallel lines are lines that will never cross each other.

10 When we look for parallel lines on shapes we are only looking at lines that are opposite from each other. If the lines never cross they are parallel.

11 Intersecting lines are lines that cross each other.

12 Some shapes are made of intersecting lines (even if they don’t look like it at first). Remember lines go ON and ON in both directions. Sometimes you have to draw more of the lines to see if they intersect.
