General economic trends (employment, etc. Regulations, shifts in political leaders, etc. Context map is a brainstorm; does not require agreement Opportunity to explore your ecosystem/ environment  Review each component Small Group will take a section each with sticky notes using the childcare context  What other categories would you add? For example, QRIS  Practice: Child care landscape – assign areas then come together and complete using wall chart. Schedules, demographics, competitive edges Innovation, software, materials Issues, concerns, areas where you lack information

6 Challenges are the factors in the environment that impede action.
Vision elements are compelling themes that describe the organization’s future direction. Each circle includes a separate element of the vision. Challenges are the factors in the environment that impede action. Purpose The Five Bold Steps are top-priority strategies - The five bold steps is a flexible framework for identifying your strategies or bold steps  - Immediately actionable items  Guided instruction The white areas are for sticky notes. Trends or factors that Support the five bold steps Behaviors and qualities that are highly regarded by the group.

Who “owns” the project Milestones are target dates Timeframe Activity tracks are flows of work to be completed by different groups Specific deliverables for the project Columns provide space for listing tasks Individuals responsible for a row of activity 1. Focus of template is – to identify people, actions, and deliverables     Clarify commitments and timelines      Track progress and accomplishments over time      See potential bottlenecks     Place for collective input  1.Identify the owner-team or person leading the project;  2. Revisit the 5 bold steps from last time to get going on new meeting  3. Identify the timeline from bold steps and break it up into time blocks (yearly, quarterly, monthly, or task specific) 4. Overall goals – Have participants brainstorm on sticky notes what they believe their goals are  5. Activity Tracks – Identify the activity and list who is the owner.  Brainstorm the actions that need to take place to achieve your goals  6. Columns - Sequence actions and create milestones; keeping in mind your realistic resources  Challenges/roadway - come up along the way if you don't encounter them take time to come up with some.  Obstacles on the road that require attention The roadway can be used for agreements
