2 Warm-up On a piece of paper answer the following question in 2-3 complete sentences. Why is it important to have policies and procedures in the classroom? Sentence stem: It is important to have policies………

3 LEARNING TARGET: We will identify the major eras in Texas history, describe their defining characteristics, and explain why historians divide the past into eras. SUCCESS CRITERIA: I will design a collage of all the Texas eras that I will learn throughout the school year.

4 Small Group Talk 30 Second Think (no talking): What is an era?What is an era you have talked about in 6th grade? Talk: Turn and face your partner. Partner A= 30 Seconds Partner B= 30 Seconds SHARE: TURN AND FACE THE PERSON WHO IS SPEAKING

5 Why do Historians divide the past into Eras?
Periodization to historical events to create blocks of time that have similar characteristics in order to organize and present information about the past. A period of history that creates blocks of time that have similar characteristics in order to organize and present info about the past. The periods may be based on chronologic,geographic, or cultural distinctions and often overlap with one another. chronologic= in order geographic =people living in a geographic area cultural distinction=how you were raised

6 Expectations You will quietly work together in your group. One student will not do all the work. You will write your answers using complete sentences.

7 Rotations Directions:
We have six rotations that consist of different eras in TX History Your group will have 7-8 minutes to read, discuss and complete the notes on the era at each station. After the 7-8 minutes you will rotate according to your teacher. You will follow steps 2 & 3 until all stations have been completed.

8 EXIT TICKET On a post it note, write down the era you would like to learn about. Tell me why this era is interesting to you. Once you are finish put the post it note on my dry erase board in the front of the classroom.
