1 Improvement in quality of life after initiation of lamotrigine therapy in patients with epilepsy in a naturalistic treatment setting  Hervé Allain, Stéphane Schück, Fatima Nachit-Ouinekh, Perrine Plouin, Anne-Marie Brunon, Jacques Boulliat, Florence Mercier, Alain Slama, Michel Baulac, Abdelkader El Hasnaoui  Seizure - European Journal of Epilepsy  Volume 16, Issue 2, Pages (March 2007) DOI: /j.seizure Copyright © 2006 British Epilepsy Association Terms and Conditions

2 Figure 1 Patient disposition during the study. Screened patients: all patients prescribed lamotrigine; eligible patients: all screened patients changing lamotrigine treatment regimen (Add-on, Switch or Step-down monotherapy): first-line group: patients initiating lamotrigine monotherapy; QOLIE-31 patients: all eligible patients over 16 years of age who completed the QOLIE-31 questionnaire; followed-up patients: all QOLIE-31 patients who returned for a second consultation; analysable patients: all followed-up patients for whom a global QOLIE-31 score could be calculated at both study visits. The final patient numbers for the four treatment groups in the analysable population are indicated in the dark circles. 3 Figure 2 Global QOLIE-31 scores at inclusion (□) and at the second consultation (■). Data are presented as mean values with 95% confidence intervals. Seizure - European Journal of Epilepsy  , DOI: ( /j.seizure ) Copyright © 2006 British Epilepsy Association Terms and Conditions

4 Figure 3 Evolution of quality of life during the study in the Add-on (A), Switch (B), Step-down (C) and First-line (D) groups. Data are presented as scores on the QOLIE-31 subscales at inclusion (♦) and at the follow-up consultation (■). Each axis of the radar plot represents one of the seven dimensions of the QOLIE-31. Probability values refer to differences in score between inclusion and at the second consultation.
