2 mission statement To support the needs of our highly capable students (K-12) in the Shoreline School District through the collaborative efforts of our parents, educators and administrators. Our objectives include: 1. SUPPORT our Hi Cap educators in the classroom through volunteering and enrichment opportunities 2. NETWORK with schools, the district, teachers and parents to build a supportive and inclusive community 3. ADVOCATE for gifted education at the school, district and state levels 4. BUILD community among our Hi Cap families

3 accomplishments Formed partnerships with our School Board members, Superintendent, Hi Cap Director and teachers Participated in the district Hi Cap Program Review committee Conducted formal presentation to the Shoreline School Board on 12/5 Advocated at Gifted Ed Day in Olympia Networked with other Hi Cap parent organizations and the NWGCA Hosted 3 community forums and eight regular meetings Started our Facebook group in August and grew to over 250 members Successfully launched our new website ( in March Distributed first newsletter in August. 4 What’s next? Participate in District Hi Cap Advisory Committee
Participate in Hi Cap Secondary Committee (middle & high school Hi Cap review) Research becoming a non-profit entity (PTA or independent) Organize a group of 25 Shoreline families to attend Gifted Ed Day in Olympia on February 8, Mark your calendars! Welcome new Hi Cap families in the spring with an organized event Increase both our database and Facebook membership to 400 by the end of the school year Next meeting April 11, topic: social-emotional learning and mindfulness. * School representative * Gifted Ed Day organizer * Enrichment coordinator * Blogger * Non-profit organization researcher (Details on these opportunities at the front table and on our website.) Volunteer in your child’s classroom and support our WONDERFUL teachers! Please make a donation tonight on your way out!
