His song "Georgia on My Mind" was made the official state song of Georgia in
 He was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1986, which was it’s first year
1987, he was awarded the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. 
In 1993 Ray Charles was awarded the National Medal of Arts.
In September 2010 the performing arts center at Morehouse College was named after Ray Charles.
The Ray Charles Foundation which was founded in 1986.
