13 The U.S. helps defeat the Central Powers
The war ends as both Austria-Hungary and Germany surrender in October and November of 1918. The armistice was signed on November 11, 1918 and the war was officially over.

14 Impact of WWI on the U.S. Home front
110,000 deaths 48,000 in battle 62,000 from disease 200,000 wounded The war changed American society forever by establishing the U.S. as the dominant world power, and allowing women and minorities a chance to prove their worth while white men fought the war abroad.
