1 “Research is creating new knowledge.” ~Neil Armstrong
We made it! Please take out your complete essay outline and pick up a copy of the outline rubric (you don’t need to write down today’s learning target) Learning Target: Evaluate sample outlines 2/28/14 “Research is creating new knowledge.” ~Neil Armstrong

2 Agenda 2/28/14 Sample outline evaluation Peer outline evaluation
Relaxation time  Homework: None…unless you’re behind, or unless you want to get ahead! Next due date: Complete essay first draft (1500 words, includes accurate Works Cited) is due at the beginning of class MONDAY, March 10th

3 Sample outline Using this rubric and a partner, read over the sample outline and assess it for each category.

4 Peer outline editing In groups of 2-3 (only 1 “no paper person” per group), use the rubric to evaluate your partner’s outline. Steps: Without explaining it first, trade papers and use the rubric to evaluate it Be honest! Help them spot areas that might need more work After it’s been evaluated, give it back and “fill in the gaps” Talk your way through your outline, answering any questions your peer may have about your topic or essay argument Really question each other! “If you can’t explain it to someone else, you don’t really know it well enough yourself”

5 Reflection What did you learn about where you’re at with the paper?
Do you need more content? Do you need to refocus or reorganize? Or…?

6 Relaxation time!  You’ve worked hard…feel free to chat and relax and check out grades!
