The Stroop Effect alfie squint 2006: Departmental Conference for Research Introduction Stroop (1935) looked at whether congruent or incongruent information was processed faster Aim is to look at the effect of hypnosis and gender on the stroop task, Methods Split people into groups Each group administered the stroop test to each other Recorded times on paper Results Males were slower than females on congruent but there was no difference for incongruent Hypnosis had more of an effect on males than females Discussion and Conclusions Gender has an effect on the stroop task Hypnosis only appears to have an effect on males The congruent task is easier than the incongruent one This supports previous literature Further research could include looking at a wider population rather than just students Data analysis was completed and the statistics showed that all the differences provided were significant.
