6 Introduction Calc acts as an alternative to spreadsheet programs like MS Excel, Lotus or Quattro. A spreadsheet is, more or less, a over-sized calculator. People use spreadsheets for tracking personal investments, budgeting, invoices, inventory tracking, statistical analysis, numerical modeling, etc.

8 Using Formula Select the cell you want to fill with formula
Input line E5 Select the cell you want to fill with formula Type the formula in the input line Example: Select cell E5 Type “= C5 * D5” inside the input line Press Enter

9 Using Formula (cont’d)
To make a SUM of a column’s value: Select the cell Type “=SUM(range1: range2)” Example: Select E13 cell Type “=SUM(E5:E12)”

10 Using the function wizard
Calc has a collection of functions ready to use Click the Function Wizard button as shown in the left upper screen Choose which function you want to use, type the function with reference cell and click OK button. Type the function with reference cell Example: =ABS(E5)

11 Applying Thousand Separator
Block the cells you want to apply the thousands separator Right click and choose Format Cells Check the Thousand separator box, Click OK

12 Borders and Background Color
To add border to your cells: Block your cells Click Borders toolbar Select which type of borders you want to apply To add background color to your cells: Block you cells Click Background Color Choose which color you want to apply Click Borders toolbar Click Background Color toolbar
