What is Land-based Learning?
Teaching in our first classroom – the LAND It’s a curriculum delivered in a local outdoor setting, and in a way that honors and respect Indigenous values and ways of learning and knowing.

Survival skills. Living off the land. Honoring all creation. Connection to Mother Earth and creation.

Bringing Land-based Learning into the Schools
PROCESS Elders meetings –direction and support Elder involvement –from the start & continues

LBL themes from the Elders
Year planning with Elders & TLC Catalyst Staff involvement with planning meetings

Combined involvement with the locally developed LBL curriculum (Elders, TLC Catalyst, teachers)
Elders Outcomes and Provincial Outcomes align with each other in the LBL Curriculum TSEC Resource Centre equipped to assist with the LBL themes

Land-based Learning theme UBDs developed and shared on website
Continued work on the project (2 more UBDs per month for this year from each grade level) LBL is infused in our Cultural Year Plan

Required to do at least 1 LBL activity per month
IMPORTANT – pre-teaching - teaching - post-teaching
