LEAD. CONNECT. INSPIRE. Collaborate with leadership to chart the direction and funding of your school’s arts programs & instruction Communicate and coordinate arts opportunities and resources available to your school community Be the public face and constant advocate for the arts at your school and for the broader community Walk stakeholders through your various role responsibilities as an Arts Liaison. Describe your school’s recent achievements & successes in the arts; e.g., events, curricular improvements, new hires, partnerships, etc. Include photos if you have them! Optional: Report on Action Planning for the year Optional: Include relevant State of the Arts data Describe your school’s recent achievements and successes in the arts, with video or photos if you have them. Give your school (and yourself!) accolades for supporting and delivering high-quality arts programming! Optional: Report out on your Action Plan results, or include State of the Arts data to show arts progress district-wide (and how your school/network compares). NOTES:

The Creative Schools Certification measures school investment in: Staffing and Instruction Partnerships, Community and Culture Budget and Planning The certification process: Arts Liaisons record data and enter it into Creative Schools Survey Survey responses are used to calculate a school’s category NOTE: Categories measure existence of the items above, not quality Rating is displayed on the School Progress Report web page NOTES:

Arts Essentials: All Category 1–4 schools receive $1,000 toward the purchase of arts materials and supplies Access to Creative Schools Fund Grants Opportunity to identify our arts programming gaps and create plans to address them Receive various supports to maintain or improve our rating (e.g., targeted professional learning; grants) NOTES:

9 Arts Essentials What it is: A $1,000 grant to all schools with a Creative Schools Certification of 1–4 and an active Arts Liaison. This money can be used toward equipment and supplies for arts classrooms. Spending timeline for DISTRICT-MANAGED SCHOOLS: Arts Essentials funds loaded into school budgets Nov 2017 All purchase orders must be opened April 6, 2018 Unspent or unencumbered funds swept from budget April 9, 2018 All purchase orders receipted, invoiced, and closed May 15, 2018 NOTES:

What it is A grant-making partnership between Ingenuity and the Department of Arts Education to support the expansion of arts education in schools Award categories Category 1 schools: Eligible for Leadership Awards up to $15,000 Category 1–3 schools: Eligible for Creative Schools Grants up to $10,000 Category 4 schools: Eligible for Booster Grants up to $10,000 NOTES:

13 The New IL Arts Learning Standards
Where can I find them? illinoisartslearning.org What’s the plan? New standards go into effect in the school year. Four key instructional shifts under the new standards were the focus of Back to School training in August 2017. Department of Arts and other stakeholders will release a suite of standards-focused resources and PD for SY18–19 and beyond. NOTES:
